Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: A Journey Not a Destination

As a diverse industry, how can the confectionery industry and its leadership support diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within companies and in leadership roles across the industry? This session puts confectionery industry leaders in conversation on the topics of diversity, equity and inclusion and will touch on the business case for DEI, the importance of allyship and the issues facing women, people of color and other diverse groups in the confectionery industry.

Sarah Alter is president and CEO of the Network of Executive Women, a nonprofit learning, leadership and gender equality advocacy organization of 13,500 members, 300+ national and regional corporate partners and 22 regional groups in the United States and Canada. NEW advances gender equality and diversity in the retail, consumer goods, financial services and technology industries. Alter joined NEW in 2017 and has wide-ranging experience in the markets NEW represents. Under Sarah, NEW has focused on supporting women of color, building male allyship, and the new generation coming into our workforce.

Natasha Miller Williams leads Ferrara’s diversity and inclusion strategy and is responsible for implementing and monitoring programs to promote diversity and foster an open and inclusive work environment. Prior to Ferrara, she was SVP of Diversity & Inclusion at Nielsen overseeing the strategic development & implementation of diversity & equity initiatives.

Recognized as one of the Top 100 Executive Leaders and Top 100 Women of Influence by Diversity MBA Magazine, Natasha is a key thought leader in the diversity & inclusion space and sits on the editorial board for Training Industry Magazine and the board of directors for the Village of Oak Lawn’s Chamber of Commerce.
