The 2021 Sweets & Snacks Expo is just around the corner, and safety remains a top priority as the industry comes together for the first time in over a year. As we imagine what our new normal will begin to look like, we know that vaccines, along with masks and social distancing, will play a pivotal role in creating a safe environment for everyone.
In a March 2 address, President Biden announced that the country was on track to have enough vaccines for every adult in America by the end of May, significantly advancing the previous goal.
As more shipments of the available vaccines hit mass vaccination centers, grocery stores and pharmacies across the country, more people are gaining much-needed access to the vaccine. The New York Times recently published a chart showing that based on the pace of vaccinations as of March 23, we can expect that 70 percent of the American public will be at least partially vaccinated by June 20, 2021.
Additionally, the New York Times reported yesterday that workers at food processing facilities are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccines in at least 26 states.
You might be wondering what all this great news means for the Sweets & Snacks Expo. Coupled with the protocols required by the city of Indianapolis and additional measures show management has put into place, we’re confident that the 2021 Sweets & Snacks Expo will be a safe and successful environment. While a vaccine is not required to attend the event, it’s likely many of the attendees will have had one and all attendees will be required to wear masks, practice safe social distancing and complete daily health screenings.
We encourage everyone who can get vaccinated to do so, and the CDC continues to release new information on what people who have received the vaccine can now do. As our national average of people vaccinated ticks up to over 2 million doses per day, it’s clear the future is bright.
This pandemic has tested all of us and made us appreciate the opportunity to gather safely. The Sweets & Snacks Expo will be one of the first times many of us get together, and the city of Indianapolis is taking every precaution to help execute a safe and fruitful event. With almost two years of products that have yet to debut, we are confident our attendees will find immense value in the show.
